4th Kentucky Regimental Flag / Kentucky Orphan Brigade Flag

The 4th Kentucky Infantry was part of the Orphan Brigade during the Civil War. The 4th Kentucky Infantry, part of the Orphan Brigade, carried a distinctive flag that deviated from the more common Confederate banners. In 1862, this unit was issued a large banner of dark blue bunting featuring a red Latin cross with thirteen white stars on each side. One of the surviving originals of this flag is identified with the 4th Kentucky Infantry.
